Dear Jimmy (continued)

Dear Jimmy,
Instead of going on the normal walks, I went to see a doctor. Mom calls her a special doctor. Her name was Dr. Greenwood. I talked to her about how you left me. She said it was natural to feel sad about losing a loved one. I told her that this was different and she would never understand.
Dear Jimmy,
Today, I had to describe you. It didn’t do you justice. I talked about how good you always looked in your brown coat and your big eyes. I also talked about how you dance. I told her about our nightly walks and how mom doesn’t want me to take them anymore. She told me I wasn’t allowed to go on your walks any more. Why Jimmy? Why would she say that? Those walks are all I have left of you.

Dear Jimmy,
When I got back from the special doctor, I went on our nightly walk.

Dear Jimmy,
I went to your gave last night. Why did those six steps feel like six billion? I read your stone over before putting your necklace with you.
Here lies Jimmy. The best dog a girl could ever own.
