I don’t want to know what she did to her face! This wasn’t as gory as the others but it still gave me chills.

The lack of detail makes this one stand out in a good way. Even the substitution of “drops” instead of “blood” enhances the atmosphere and mystery (if it even is blood. See, that’s what I mean!).

Ooh, you’ve got setting, mystery, and then a glaring hint at something really gory that still lets the reader’s imagination go lots of places. Epic win!

I love this. The idea of her self-mutilation gives the story a really (horrific) kick.
