Above All Else [04.2]
A jagged stone jutted out of the ground before me, casting what was fast becoming a long shadow on the ground. It was almost pointless by now to seek shelter against the coming night, but I collapsed in the shadow all the same. Propped up against the rock, I looked to the sky. The atmosphere was such that I could not see the cursed disk, but light poured down from the entire sky seemingly equally. I must have been some sight, wings lain flat to either side of me against the rock, slumped down with my left side torn apart my the crash. I still didn’t know why it happened, and I didn’t much care. I was hardly cognitive enough to care about anything but getting to my destination.
