It's a One Man World
Sam was having a tough go. His girlfriend dumped him for a dying tycoon, he got busted for drug possession, and his latest exploits into experimental jazz had resulted in dismal failure and accosted him years of saving. This is enough to get anyone down into the pits but Sam was an optimist. He liked to live by some words familiar to all of us and he firmly believed that “we’re all in this together”.
The next day at his part-time job at a taco stand, his employer and long time friend broke it to him that he was getting laid off. Sam knew that was just business. Moneyless and jobless, he stopped by his friend and fellow musicians pad to crash, only to be rejected for reasons unknown. Friendless, he hitched across the country back home, only to be turned away by stepfather for being a bum while his mother watched apathetically.
“I guess we aren’t all in it together” he mused while sitting on a curb.
Walking down the street, a homeless man asked for spare change to which Sam replied, “Get a job bum”.
