Yay! This is a really sweet piece, the kind that renews my faith in magic. Really enjoyed this.
I did get a little confused though in the second paragraph though where the narrator says they ‘felt the splinters pierce their skin’. I thought they had jumped and really hurt themselves at that point.
Me likey, if only because I have the ability to fly. Yes, I said it, I can fly. Unfortunately for me, flying is usually preceded by Your exits are here, here and here.
I love the purity of this kid. You don’t see this level of belief anymore. Everything has to be dark and gritty. I miss the good old days when kids really could fly. Every now and then I jump off of things just to see if I can reclaim that magic, but so far I haven’t found it yet.
