Well, heck of a comeback ficly, old friend. Cleanly described in all its brutality without being overly dramatic or graphic, the narration matching the doctor’s own resigned, pragmatic point of view. Nicely done.

You do a really good job with getting across the jaded, basically depressing mood of the doctor. Really interesting twist on the challenge, and very emotionally weighty without too much “telling.”

Great story – it had me clenching my jaw as I read it.

Oozes atmosphere and plot. Perfect example of how every word in a Ficly cna be put to use without making a too-dense piece of writing.

You set this up perfectly. Everything from the motel, to the drunk nurse, to the ellipses before broken adds exactly what it needs to.

Very dystopian (if not only in the mind of the doctor), and I agree with the above comments – this has been done very well.

… and I find myself wanting to know the back-story of the drunken nurse…
