The “You could run a city block…” sentence feels too long compared with the rest and doesn’t fit with the whole rant thing.

I liked it overall, especially the bit about the bus. Funny, but not trying too hard.

I was totally lost. Was it supposed to not match the prequel at all? I was sort of with it at first, this being maybe a ‘mad scientist’ rant, but then it started sounding like Jason, and then finally like a super-bitter version of Hancock?

It’s not the same character talking. As the later stories show, these are a series of dramatic monologues by different superhero-world characters, followed by a brief story featuring the characters.
