Author note: the title & concept were inspired by the song “Sonne” by Rammstein, a song that I’ve continually loved over the years (not “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles, although that is also a nice song).

What’s really great about this story is that if you take it at face value, it’s a sweet story about love being like a shining light when things are at their worst.

But when you consider the inspiration, there seems to be a much darker subtext to this relationship.

Or maybe I’m just a joyless cynic.

Hurm.
