The Juxtoposition of Prometheus
Proud, independent Eagle flew as far as her wings and the wind could take her.
One day Eagle spied an ugly rock, that she alone found beauty in. The rock became Home. She still journeyed afar but returned to the rock each night.
Crow asked Eagle, “I watch you return to the rock each night. Sister Eagle, if you like the rock why don’t you take it with you?”
Eagle agreed, and from now on, she would take the rock with her everywhere.
Little by little, the rock began to weigh her down. Eagle’s flights became shorter and more limited each and every day. Then, one day, Eagle did not fly at all. Instead, she spent all day and all night with the rock, not doing anything at all.
The next day, Crow flew down from the tops of the trees and said, “I used to see you fly from sunrise to sunset. I envied your travels and the stories that you returned with. You were happy and free. You gave up everything for that rock. I have only one question, Sister Eagle: What has the rock given up for you?”
