Aboard
The ship was small, but relatively spacious inside due to it’s spherical shape. The airlock almost smelled musty, quite a feat for a room that was routinely sucked clean by pressure changes.
The main chamber of the ship had a high ceiling, covered in windows. Vines climbed the walls and a small tree dominated the very center of the room. Everything was white, although some surfaces were covered in obvious grease stains and other things.
The ship appeared empty, only the captain’s daughter was visible, working by a control panel opposite the entrance to the main room. She was scrawny, tall, freckled with red hair and small features. She moved with a rapid habit of motion. The earthlings had a hard time believing that someone so vigorous could spend her life on a spaceship.
“We’re still waiting for our head mechanic.” The captain strode into the main chamber, pointing to the various access hatches and ladders that led to other parts of the ship. “She should be along in no more than twenty minutes.”
