Somehow the exactness of the safeguards and dangers made me empathetic toward the protagonist. While in the first story I thought it was funny that the robot chucked him out on his butt, now it is considerably less funny- it is about survival. Good sequel.
Tonally it’s very different from the “Robot Hot” prequel, I think. Also, one of the strengths of the original was a lack of unexplained jargon, something which I think you’ve fallen into with references like “AICL chip”.
