I like the short statements. “This is not a metaphor”. I tore through that first paragraph like a starving monkey through a banana cart.

Very interesting. It certainly grips the reader, and provides just enough information to keep the narrative flowing in the direction you want, without getting bogged down in needless details.

It’s the sort of ficlet that is crying out for a sequel though.
