A nice little character study here – you really get the feeling that this loss, this desperation could be channelled in any direction – bunny-boiling is certainly possible!
Maybe a little clichéd in parts, but the originality of the cross-gender love triangle hinted at in the last line adds lots of sequel potential…
Cross-gender MH? I didn’t get that. It sounded like a woman having a fit. I wish I didn’t, but I know that envy of the other woman and it’s captured brilliantly. That addiction to their love, that need for their touch. Thinking of sequelling, but I say that too often, don’t I? It is intriguing, but damn it, when I sequel something I get the feeling I’m ruining it.
I feel like I’ve really stereotyped this story now – but I swear to God the first time I read it I picked up on an indicator that the character was male.
I’m going senile in my old age, clearly.
I still think it would make for an interesting story continuation though! MH :)
