Enjoy the Silence
We found out on a Friday.
Cancer.
Four days later, you were gone.
It was a shock to all of us. I held your hand and spoke to you, as you opened your eyes for the last time. You looked right at me and right through me. When I saw the look in your eyes, I knew it was over. I knew you were done. But I saw something else there, too. Peace. Serenity.
It was a look that said “I’m going to fly from this earth and smile down upon all of you.”
It was a look that told me not to cry when you were gone from this world. Even though you told me not to, I still did.
That was seven months ago.
I still miss you.
