Until the ending, the mechanical apathy of the pilot is a little chilling. The ending, his destructive arrogance, even more so. Well done. I don’t know if that’s even close to what you were going for, but it’s what I got. Well done.

I never really looked at it in that way, but now that you mention it… Thanks man, glad you like it!

I took a different feel from it, more calculated professionalism of the officer pilot, keeping himself detached to stave off panic. But I’m biased, since my dad did this when I was a kid. Cool story, and I liked the ending, a turn of phrase a fighter pilot would surely appreciate.

Nicely told. I think the choice of words is vague. Some see it as cold, some see it as merely professional. I like the ambiguity. You might want to change the tag from “Angles” though. Spelling is very important. :)

This could totally have been a sequel to “Vanguard”. I’m not sure what to make of this one. I can see the cold professionalism, but then it kind of switches to a more human, jokey kind of attitude. It’s a little abrupt, I feel.

Haha, when I was writing this, I thought I could have linked this to Vanguard, but yours was a hypersonic missile, not a bomber :p
I’ll echo the comments about the pilot’s attitude and I like it. And, the technical catch… “as I draw nearer closer.” Shouldn’t there be at least a comma there?
