Lovely story. You really evoke a mood for the scene, a pleasant, contented one as this Dr. is imminently pleased with where she is at the present time.

Strong build-up of atmosphere and background here. Nice ending, too.

Oh yeah, and plus one for “McMurdo”. That is an awesome name.
