This is a challenge which relies on a clever incorporation of clichés, and you’ve done it well here – the monologuing, the inside man and the underwater base all add to the gloriously melodramatic feel the ends of action/spy films seem to have…
Sam first let me offer my condolenses for your character’s slain henchman. It is hard to find a good henchman you can count on. It isn’t like you can call Hench-power and have them send one up, or go down to Hench-Mart. Sorry for getting side-tracked but i loved the story and it was like eating a cliche sundae. i do love a good sundae.
the only thing missing is the long winded diatribe by the bad guy… “I’m so much smarter than you…yada yada yaya…but before I kill you here’s my mastermind plan…yackity smackity…but perhaps I’ve said too much. I will now leave the room and assume my henchmen will kill you.” but I guess that would be too long for a 1024 ficly. It’s a good story given the space provided.
