There are literally hundreds of modern automatic pistols that are incredibly reliable these days. The odds of you holding a jammed pistol in your hand during a bit of trouble have decreased to nearly zero. Automatics have a higher capacity, they reload faster, they tend to be lighter weight, and the variety of gadgets available for them are nearly endless.

Why, then, would a professional such as myself ever choose one of these old time wheel guns?

Comfort, first off. I’m hard pressed to find a small sized automatic that can compare to a snub-nosed hammerless revolver when it comes to comfort in carrying and ease of readying.

Reliability, secondly. Although modern automatics are incredibly reliable, they are still capable of jamming. Revolvers can not fail unless something breaks inside the pistol.

And finally, revolvers don’t eject casings for forensics. After a hit, you don’t want to be sitting around trying to remember if you had your latex gloves on every single time you touched your cartridges.
