Overall a good story, but the dialog was a bit discordant, and did not fit the anxiety of the moment. For example: when Mitchell runs down the list of all who have died in the 1st paragraph, or when Mitchell knows the exact number of dead and alive; Most people would be less precise under these circumstances.

Impressive use of the phrase, and very enjoyable. Just a small adjustment: “Did you see their bodies?”

Also it would be nice to dwell a bit more on the concept of “zoanthrope” – isn’t it a delusion of the mind, not a transformation?

I will edit. As for zoanthrope, it’s just a word I heard somewhere, and it’s in my head and I thought I’d write it. Meaning had nothing to do with it.
