Hmm, this is the most dangerous thing people can do on the road, and it’s one of my biggest fears as a Learner Driver. Unfortunately, it happens far too often.
To be honest, I’ve done that. It’s very dumb. The one time I did it, I pulled over to sleep about 10 miles outside the city I was aiming for, and slept for a few hours. But the intercity driving was done in that half-sleeping state.
I think you give away some of the drama at the end of the second paragraph. The story has a feeling of urgency as you go along with the driver, wondering what is so important that he is pushing himself so much.
I just think it should be a revelation that the driver is stubbornly and selfishly “pushing the limit” for no reason other than the comfort of bed.
