Robert this is beautiful, absolutely heart-breaking. The metaphors manage not to be at all cheesy, and I love that of the dark albatross. Breathtaking, Mr. Quick. One of your best.
Thank you so much. You know how sometimes the story writes itself? Well this one came to me as I was drifting off to sleep and I knew I needed to capture it before it disappeared forever- so I got back up and wrote it. I am never sure about a) my metaphors and b) my cheesy-ness, so thank you especially for that. @Elsha- True. They never do, except in the movies. On the other hand, I like the idea of a lonely, decrepit lighthouse still shining love, that can only be seen once in a while. It’s like a sad, romantic ghost story.
@robert not true, they never do anything that can be predicted to an absolute certainty. Hell Decartes’ problem of other minds, wont even let us prove they are “they”. So sometimes they may. sweet story and lighthouses are creepy.
