Just the right amount of bite! Nitpicks: a) There’s a word missing in “the time Afghanistan.” b) “Shake on it” is normally a phrase associated with verbal contracts, but your protagonist has already signed a written contract.

I agree with August, but I think you can leave in “Shake on it.” I’m sure the gentleman in the three-piece suit and red tie is merely trying to be thorough.
