Lovely use of language and has a poignant, pained feel to it. I’m not entirely sure I followed, but I think I got there by the end. Perhaps just a clarification on ‘the boys’ would clinch it (her brothers vs. the lost boys), as that’s the one thing I wasn’t sure of, which boys she was trying not to wake.
