This is essentially a prequel to ‘The Dead’, a short story by James Joyce. I think it was also made into a short film or something like that, though I’m fuzzy on that bit. I just know I read the story and it stuck with me.

It’s been some time since I read “the dead”, but I’m going to have to dust the Dubliners off, and add it to my reading stack.

Overall you did an amazing job capturing the tone and fell.

I’ve heard of this story. Despite the fact that I dislike all stories by Joyce, I actually quite like this. Way better than Joyce.
