The Skinless Human
“What is it?”
“I don’t know.”
The two kittens sat staring at the odd little thing on the ground.
“It looks like a skinless human,” whispered Jeffie.
“A really little human,” replied Bindi.
Jeffie poked it with his paw. “What should we do with it?”
“Let’s give it to Paco. He can bury it for us in the backyard.” said Bindi.
The two sat staring at it a while longer. They turned their heads from side to side, sniffed it, and pushed it around with their paws. It felt cold.
“Do you think we should show our human?” asked Bindi.
Jeffie nodded and slipped away. He returned several minutes later with her in tow. She
looked down at the cold, dead, skinless little being on the ground.
“Cool!” she said as she leaned over and picked it up. “A skeleton key shaped like a human! I bet it goes to the old cellar door.”
“We were right, Bindi!” whispered Jeffie. “It’s a skinless human!” The two sat looking quite proud of themselves and wondered who had killed it. It was an impressive kill.
