Tricky subject. It’s a little dispassionate for my taste but, maybe, that’s because the child has already seen so much horror that nothing disturbs her/him any more.
Personally, I’d like a little more emotion in a piece of this nature, but that’s just me. Full marks for bravery, though, not everyone would tackle this subject.
I agree that the ending is a little dispassionate, but I understand that the Jews weren’t just scared or sad, they would have been angry too. But, yes, the ending is a little clinical, although the last line is a superb one.
