The Kiss
An hour later, I closed Heather’s private room door behind me and felt a hand around my wrist. When I turned and saw it wasn’t Connor I instinctively tried to pull my hand away.
“You okay?” Jacob smiled, not letting go of my wrist. His smile melted my heart again, and it was hard to put it back on one piece. “Come with me.”
Immediately my body responded without my brain’s consent. He pulled me into a corner and began to kiss me passionately. I felt like I’d left my body and was watching from afar, looking at a girl I didn’t know kiss a boy I knew too well whilst Heather dosed in her hospital bed.
Then my soul catapulted back into my head as someone pulled me away from Jacob, and I found myself looking into Connor’s eyes, then everything came back and I fell to my knees, tears falling in huge drops onto my knees.
“I’m such a whore!” I screamed.
“Go,” I heard Connor say sternly to Jacob. “Go to your girlfriend.”
And with that one word I burst into fresh tears as Jacob backed off into the crowd behind us.
