Goodbyes (I)
I enter the diner and wait until the cop car is out of sight. I jog to the club and head for the Employees Only door, though I haven’t been one for a while now. As I walk in all the girls jump in surprise. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the girls and I’m happy to see them again.
“Stacie!” I hear Kendra yell. Not the person I wanted to really see, but I don’t see Mary. “Are you coming back?”
“Actually, no. I’m here to say goodbye.”
“Oh my God! Your folks moving?”
“Not exactly…” I trail off, not ready to explain to Kendra what’s going on. “Where’s Mary?”
“Oh, honey. Mary is moving too! She’s at home packing as we speak,” Kendra walks to her stand and grabs a piece of paper. “She did want me to give you her new address unless you never got to say goodbye.”
“Thanks,” I say. I grab the paper and stuff it into my pocket. I need to catch Mary before she leaves, but I have to make one more stop. “When does she leave?”
“Not till tomorrow. Gonna go see her?”
“Yeah, but I have to see someone first.”
