Zombie hippo? That’s a new one, I’ll give you that. Most zombie movies stick to humans as the zombies, though ‘Slither’ had a really gnarly deer zombie. Cool, imaginative scene with a good animal choice since they look so unassuming but are actually quite dangerous even when not zombified.

I like it!

It’s so opposite from the perception of Hippos as ‘gentle giants’ that the thought of flesh craving Hippopotami makes me cringe.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term “Hungry, Hungry Hippo”

The only thing that stood out for me was “ducked into a crouch”, I guess for me the words duck and crouch seem redundant. I feel say “crouched” would have been enough.

I don’t know if the other commenters knew this, but hippos do actually kill people. They kill more people in the rivers of Africa than crocodiles do.

I think the story would have been better personally, if the hippo had simply escaped from its cage. Drop the zombie angle entirely. It would be funnier to me that kids who go to zoo still somehow manage to remain ignorant about the animals they see.

Though they aren’t carnivorous, Hippos are dangerous. They have killed hundreds of people in Africa – more than any other wild animal.
