Essentially, this kind of story should come across as a bit of a tear-jerky cheese-fest, but I think there’s more substance with this one than meets the eye.
The whole tone of the piece was intriguing – are these the words of a dead lover? Trying to encourage but ultimately tinged with regret and sadness that perhaps one day you’ll be forgotten?
The thought of somebody loving someone so much that they tell them another relationship is going to be ‘better than anything before’ is sophisticatedly heartbreaking…
The touches of angst within the piece might split people, but on balance, I really enjoyed it, and actually felt quite emotionally connected to the narrator by the end – cool beans! MH :)
