Continuation of the scene. Plays on one of my favorite themes: the boundary between a comfortable (perhaps longstanding) friendship and burgeoning romance. What can I say, I’m a sappy bastard.

There’s some real character development here, it is a quirky little relationship you’ve built up, and I think setting into the ‘painting’ context is quite interesting – there’s room for metaphor there if you wanted to go that way!

This is, admittedly, a scene out of context. The characters have been friends their whole lives, and this is a new development that sort of evolved out of a mutual need for comfort. They’re sort of “helping each other out”.

It hasn’t really been a romance for them until this point.

Then again, I’m a guy. =) Sex without romance may not be preferable, but it’s definitely conceivable (no pun intended).

lol, well, pun grasped! Yes, not knowing they are ‘helping each other out’ does help, maybe i just need more relationship history and a feel for the two as a couple. Is this a sweet moment they both deserve or a shocking ’what are you doing?!?!" kind of moment? :P

Oh, the shocking “what are you doing” moment already happened. Sort of. There are a lot of scenes that have been written, but are just sort of floating. I come back to this story from time to time, but it’s not my main focus.
