Rides

Consider the world a theme-park, separated by an infinite number of gates, each section holding rides of greater excitement and wonder. Mathematics being th key to each of these gates. Surely this warrants math a fair measure of prestige. However, the engineers, the builders and the doers are the ones who make the rides work for all of us to use. So while the mathematicians call from fifty gates ahead “hay look at how far we’ve gone, all these gates we’ve opened!” the engineers reply “neat!” from the spinning teacups.
