Green Eyes, Read Emails
Jason read the email with a growing feeling of nausea. Congressmen Barnes, his boss, was going to fire him on Friday for “improper use non-prescription pharmaceuticals.” Sure, he used meth, but every aide was on some kind of stimulant, the only difference was that his weren’t prescribed. This would be another failure added to an already long list.
He read on. “Promote Caleb to full aide status. That boy looks like he’ll go far.” Caleb was Jason’s gofer and it irked him that he was going to be promoted while Jason himself was going to be canned. It wasn’t fair. Caleb didn’t deserve it. He was nothing, a nobody.
No one knew that he had access to his boss’ private email accounts, nor a copy of the key to the polished desk that held all of Barnes’ personal material. Jason had taken it upon himself to increase his worth by giving himself access to anything he might need to stand out.
He knew he could use some of this information to prevent Caleb from taking his place, while making money but he needed Kara.
