One of the better entries in Elsha’s challenge. dialog was good, and using the ‘required’ words didn’t feel forced.

@ Krulltar- Agreed. Elizabeth isn’t on here a lot but when she is she makes her presence count.

I would say that if this has a weakness it’s that there doesn’t seem to be a protagonist to speak of. I don’t know, I guess that isn’t a requirement. Anyway, excellent entry and likely the best of the lot.

Thanks so much for the nice comments! I was worried this would fall into the same trap as “Love is not my superpower” — hinting at worldbuilding just enough to be confusing. I’m so glad this seemed to come across okay. Hooray for improvement!

There were required words? I didn’t even notice them. Nice creation of a situation and reality then overlaying some human reactions onto it.
