Weird in a kind of surreal, hallucinogenic way as opposed to freaky, run-for-your-life weird.
I had to read it a couple of times to try and get at it, but what I love is the mixture of the childishly innocent and brutally sinister – on a literal level I can almost see this is a child’s birthday party – unicorns and cakes and the like, but then there’s this deliciously deadly undertone…
Very interesting indeed, combining some lovely imagery with a tantalising suggestiveness – MH :)
