Settings for the March

“Customer number six two five seven six wants these things set up and ready to go in five more days gentlemen, let’s keep up the pace.” Dario Allenbach said to his crew. They had been working day and night for the past month.

“Boss Dario,” one of his men asked as he turned the setting dials for a clockwork soldier, “why such a rush on these things?”

“Not our concern, Aldo.” Dario said flatly. “We simply prepare a legion of the finest Brandenberger Clockwork Company’s Automated Soldiers, set them according to specifications, and ship them to the destinations. After that, we take a nice holiday and count all our pay.”

Dario’s engineers laughed, each one imagining how he would spend the overtime he was accruing. They were working up one row of brass soldiers and back down the next in teams of two, turning dials to set the automatons for battle. Once activated, the troops would execute the settings dialed into them with ruthless efficiency. Marching, firing, and weathering battle like no human could match.
