Dr Davos, The Worm Starts

That night, they took the worm from the lab to an alley a few blocks away, leaving it in the corner, its instructions simple and complete.

The worm had only two tasks, for the time being, find the pieces necessary in the garbage lining London’s streets to replicate itself and send a message back to Dr. Davos when a replication was complete.

The doctor knew in the worst case scenario, Fibonacci’s sequence would apply to the creations numbers. He would have thousand roaming the streets of London as long as one thing remained constant, the rate of garbage generation in London, almost guaranteed. The only problem, the worms were only to run at night, in a crude attempt to avoid discovery, the machines roamed the streets lit only by gas lamps, dark and dreary.

Several days passed and the messages from the machines began to grow in number, after only three days over 1000 replication messages had been sent, much faster than Dr. Davos anticipated. Every Londoner could be proud, their city can make trash fast.
