The Path of Spectres
The sky was an eery cobalt blue as I stood on the plain behind our house. A draft of cold air drifted along the grass and washed lightly over my naked feet, sending shivers up the length of my legs. I could feel my hair brushing lightly against my back as the breeze pushed it gently back and forth.
I was aware of everything around me as I kept my eyes fixed on the woods at the end of the field. Suddenly my heart skipped a beat and my breath caught as a white light flashed once from between the hallowed oaks.
In one swift movement I pulled up my camera and started towards the woods, knowing that what I found would both change my life and affirm it. The sky began to pelt me with tiny water droplets but I would not stop.
The trees crept towards me tortuously slowly. My knees began to ache with the speed and my breath became ragged and painful, but still I pushed on. Fate waited for no pain. As the woods loomed near I stopped, looked behind me, and wondered whether I would ever see home again.
