I’m not certain I followed that last part. Did the assassin go to kill the thing that Reyes was building to save his life, so that it could then go kill Reyes without interference?

Well, the thing it goes back to watch is itself. It has a number on it (13894) which was the number of the Subject being created. I was going to end it when it vanished, then that little snippet popped into my head and so I put it in to leave it open for anyone else who’d like to dabble in the story to do so.

Ah, I see that now. Apparently I didn’t read it carefully enough the first time. :)
