The Hungry Hawk

The Hawk caught the fish
Sir Fish wished himself away
Fly away, Sir Fish!

Sir Fish spread his fins
Though he was in air, swam off.
Robbed Hawk of his lunch.

Hawk struck out anew
Tried to grab a rabbit stew
Once again, food flew!

Quite hungry, Hawk cursed.
Nearby, Trickster laughed at him.
“Too much pride in flight!”

“Flight matters little
Without those in brush or brook.”
Hawk heard his words well.

With thanks to Trickster
and to all of those below
Hawk tried once again.

Hawk succeeded now
Grateful for his fish dinner
for rest of his days.
