Hm, an interesting choice. I’m not sure if this fulfills the challenge or not. On the one hand, your character will never race again but on the other he still won the gold. There’s a balance here of success and failure that makes me think the situation wasn’t entirely impossible.

Saying that I really enjoyed this piece. It’s so well written, not to mention compelling, that it makes me wonder if you have experience in this sport? Either way it’s a wonderful piece and a welcome entry to the challenge.

Actually the character crashes in the last turn, and doesn’t finish the race, let alone win it. I should have been more clear with my ending.
