Letters from the Apocalypse, July 30 2060
Elisa,
I hope this letter gets to you. The crazies have been really active along the Trade Road and I think they killed the last courier. The other routes were flooded so I guess he had no choice. If they got him I hope he died quick, and maybe one of those bastards choked on him. I liked Tam, he was a good rider.
If you’d gotten my last letter, you’d know that I figured Hector was planning to run against Greta. Gladly I can say that isn’t going to happen, a sickness took Hector out last month. He would have been an awful leader. Got one of our docs though, so I’ve been spending more time with Alice learning how to heal. I can’t believe she remembers what things were like Before, she’s SO old. Talks funny too. Uses weird words that I guess made sense in the Before-times, like calling the Trade Road “Eye 35”. She cries a lot.
Can’t wait to see you at the fair next month. Harvest has been good, lots of beets and onions. I heard the Wolf Clan is coming, I love hearing their stories from the north.
Love, Will
