An Individual In a Sea of Many

I’ve never been an incredibly gorgeous girl,
but my toes are painted and my hair retains curl.
As pretty as they are, I do not envy other girls’ beauty
Because they are hypnotized to make this their sole duty
My brain isn’t flooded with thoughts of boys and clothes,
But rather flooded with thoughts of philosophy and that that no one knows.
For this reason you may think I’m crazy; even insane,
But over my dead body I’d rather be insane than conform and be plain.
After all, there’s so much to make of this short life;
I intend to do something with it, I refuse to die just someone’s wife.
