They sat and stared into the bubble, and little faces peered back. Not reflections, for they had neither red hair nor pink Hello Kitty glasses like those of the viewers. They were their own faces.

Kelsey cocked her curly blonde head sideways. "What is it?’ she asked.

Beside her Mark shrugged, not taking his eyes from the bubble. “Dunno,” he whispered, “maybe there’s people in there.”

Kelsey’s eyes opened wide. “Like fairies?”

Mark nodded solemnly. “Uh huh. Fairies in a magic bubble world.” He turned on Kelsey, “Why not?”

She started and sniffed back a tear. “I didn’t say it wasn’t!”

“Oh,” Mark muttered, “sorry.” He turned an apologetic smile to her, and she smiled back brightly.

“That one looks like it has a crown. See? There’s a yellow squiggle above it’s head.” Kelsey pointed carefully, not touching the bubble.

“Yah,” Mark whispered, “and look at this one. He’s got grass shoes.”

The two knelt in the grass peering into the bubble. “Hello,” came a voice that sounded like wind through the grass.
