Down the Long Road

I stared out down the road, a rifle slung over my back, some ammo in my pockets, and a few meager supplies in a bag at my side.

I turned around in a slow circle, scanning the distance for anything.

I looked back down the road. Maybe one day I’ll see something.

I started walking down the road, my destination an infinite distance into the future.

I have an eternity ahead of me anyway so at least it will keep me occupied.
