Fate, Serendipitous Fate
Jasper and Annalese hurried out to a waiting car, saw Hale and stopped short. “Grab him!” Jasper yelled. Annalese moved to block Hale’s path, while the suited driver came up behind. Hale tried to dodge between the heeled lady and the suited man, but tripped on the curb.
“Well, who do we have here?” Jasper crooned.
Hale struggled against the driver’s grip.
“What brings you to this part of town? Hm? Do you even know where you are?”
Hale stopped struggling. It would be just his luck that he’d wandered into their lair.
“Take him with us.”
Hale was forced into the car between Annalese and Jasper, fuming.
“We have important business to attend to, and you should be witness to it. Maybe then you won’t be so willing to run, huh?”
The car ride was silent. Hale stared at the back of the driver’s head the whole way. His grandfather had taught him to never give the government any information.
They pulled into a parking lot, right beside a familiar sedan. Back where I started thought Hale.
