Tempered Steel.

The newly crowned King stood up from his throne and addressed the court. He refused to wear the ceremonial armor which his line had worn for a hundred years when they were making military decrees. The boy claimed that his words had more steel than any suit of armor ever could. He was a born politician.

“A knight’s sword is made of tempered steel. Iron and carbon forged in the proper balance to form a sharp, deadly, and durable weapon. A worthy knight is much like his blade. His soul is forged of courage, loyalty, and judgment, in the proper balance, to form the perfect warrior.”

The boy King looked down at Quincey as his tone changed from informative to disgusted.

“Sir Quincey Sandstone, heir to the coastal fortress of Stoneport, Lord of the Western Coastal Province, Admiral of the Sandstone Navy, and Hero of Sunless Swamp, I hereby strip you of all property and title, which are now royal assets. You are assigned to whatever duties my military advisers deem appropriate to a rash and dishonored blade.”
