I’m pretty sure that’s an improper use of ‘eulogize’ there. Likewise with ‘overweening’. You might want to keep a dictionary at hand for reference. :)

I think you’re right about ‘overweening’ but eulogizing is staying to offer an impression of religious fervour :D

Might I suggest panegyrize instead of eulogize :)
