I Am Fear
I know you can’t see me, but I relish in the taste of your fear from here.
My voice approaches from the left, so you dart right… Only to hear it approach from before you. It may not be pleasant to hear, but well… I’m not a pleasant creature.
You’re trying to calm yourself? How can you be calm when so many unspeakable horrors are running through your head right now? What will I do? When will I do it? Will you die quickly or agonize first?
Perhaps a slip of an appendage against your face will serve to stir up your anxiety.
Much better.
You don’t seem to understand. I am Fear. I am what hid under your bed when you were a child or lurked beyond your closet door. I’ve waited for you this long, savoring your nervous energy and I now drink in your aura as you contemplate how I shall facilitate your demise.
Yes! Attempt to run! I’ll trip you, but you’ll rise up and dash in another direction only to be tripped again.
You’ve provided an excellent feast, my dear. Now it is time for my dessert.
