I can explain it. It’s the codependency of our moon and earth— one affects the other. The reason we are alotted a life on earth is due in part to the gravitational pull of the moon— it keeps the earth’s axis stable. Without a stable axis our earth would experience such extreme shifts in temperature that it would not be suitable for life. Much like Mars. Mars has an erratic axis, and that is the main reason it is a freezing desert void of life. If our moon gets hit with a big enough piece of space debris it could potentially wipe us out. So this poem explores that possibility. Does it make more sense now?
